Chelsea are set for another major reshuffle in attack, with Nicolas Jackson on the brink of a loan move to Bayern Munich, while Christopher Nkunku has completed a permanent transfer to AC Milan.
Nkunku, 27, has signed a five-year contract with the Serie A giants after Milan agreed a £36 million deal with Chelsea. The French forward leaves Stamford Bridge after two years, scoring 18 goals and providing five assists in 62 appearances. He played a key role in Chelsea’s Club World Cup and Conference League triumphs last season but will now begin a new chapter in Italy.
Meanwhile, Jackson, 24, is closing in on a switch to Bayern Munich. The Senegalese striker has already reached a pre-contract agreement with the Bundesliga champions and is in Germany to finalize the move. The deal includes an initial £13 million loan fee, with an option to buy set at £56.2 million, plus a sell-on clause.
The departures of Nkunku and Jackson extend Chelsea’s busy transfer window, during which the club has already raised nearly £309 million from player sales while spending about £277 million on new signings. The outgoings will also help the Blues comply with UEFA’s financial regulations, after being fined €31 million earlier this summer.
Both forwards, who joined Chelsea in 2023, struggled for consistent game time this season due to competition from new arrivals Joao Pedro and Liam Delap. While Jackson registered 24 goals in 65 Premier League matches, his finishing drew criticism as he underperformed his expected goals tally by seven and converted just 29% of his big chances.
The striker last featured as a substitute in Chelsea’s Club World Cup semi-final win over Fluminense but was left unused in the final against PSG. He has also missed the club’s opening two Premier League matches this season.
