Four Suspects Arrested After Attack on Sokoto Deputy Governor’s Convoy

Security agencies have confirmed the arrest of four individuals in connection with an attack on the convoy of the Sokoto State Deputy Governor.

The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon around 1 p.m. in Shagari Local Government Area, shortly after the deputy governor had paid a condolence visit.

Reports indicate that the deputy governor was in Shagari town to sympathize with residents recently displaced by bandit attacks in their communities. However, tensions flared when some angry displaced persons reportedly blocked the road and began attacking the convoy. Several vehicles in the entourage were vandalized during the unrest.

In response, troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA were quickly deployed to the scene. They cleared the obstruction and restored calm. According to security sources, four suspects were arrested on the spot and handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigation.

Authorities confirmed that normalcy has since returned to the area, with additional security personnel stationed to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.
