Fani-Kayode Denies Link to NFA Chairmanship Race, Calls Rumours “Deeply Insulting”

Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has strongly denied reports linking him to the chairmanship race of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA).

In a statement posted on his verified X account on Thursday, Fani-Kayode described the claims as “fake news,” stressing that he has no interest in football or the leadership of the NFA.

“It has been brought to my attention that fake quotes are being attributed to me by various unknown blogs, claiming that I want to be NFA Chairman or that I have stepped down for someone else. This is all fake news. I know nothing about the NFA, I have no interest in football, and I could not care less who the NFA Chairman is or will be,” he said.

The former minister further criticised the circulation of the rumours, calling them “deeply insulting,” and urged those behind the reports to desist.

He added that any official communication from him would only come through his verified platforms.

“Any quote or story that does not emanate from my website (femifanikayode.org), my verified X handle (@realffk), or my verified Facebook and Instagram pages is fake. I urge members of the public to ignore such reports and treat them with caution,” he stated.

Fani-Kayode maintained that he has neither been approached nor nominated for the NFA role, stressing that even if he had, he would have declined.
