Yusuf Muhammadu Buhari, son of Nigeria’s late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has secured a resounding victory in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua Federal Constituency seat in Katsina State.
The APC primary, which attracted significant attention within political circles in the state, ended in a landslide win for Yusuf Buhari after he polled an overwhelming 5,849 votes. His only challenger, Hon. Auwal Lawal Daura, managed to secure just 21 votes, highlighting the strong support Yusuf enjoys within the constituency.
The wide margin of victory immediately sparked reactions among party members and political observers, many of whom described the outcome as a major political statement ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Following the announcement of the results, APC supporters and loyalists in the constituency celebrated enthusiastically, expressing confidence that Yusuf Buhari’s emergence would further strengthen the party’s influence in the area.
The Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua Federal Constituency remains one of the most politically significant regions in Katsina State due to its historical connection to the Buhari family and the long-standing dominance of the APC in the area. Analysts believe Yusuf Buhari’s emergence could further consolidate the party’s hold ahead of the next general election cycle.
Meanwhile, the APC has also released the names of House of Representatives aspirants who failed to secure clearance to participate in the party’s National Assembly primaries for the 2027 elections.
The development reportedly affected aspirants from several states, including Ondo, Bauchi, Ebonyi, Kogi, and Rivers, as the ruling party continues preparations for the forthcoming electoral contests across the country.
