Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has reacted to the reported defeat of Senator Ned Nwoko in the All Progressives Congress (APC) Delta North senatorial primary election.
According to reports, former Ifeanyi Okowa overwhelmingly defeated Nwoko during the primary conducted on Monday.
The exercise reportedly saw Nwoko secure only three votes, while Okowa polled 4,462 votes in his ward, delivering a crushing victory in the contest.
Reacting to the development, Sowore took to his Facebook page where he openly mocked the senator over the outcome of the primary election.
The activist said the result reflected what he described as the deeper problems within Nigeria’s elite political class, accusing wealthy politicians of building influence through manipulation, propaganda, and political patronage rather than genuine public support.
According to Sowore, political power founded on questionable alliances and influence would eventually collapse.
“The fall of so-called billionaire Senator Prince Ned Nwoko exposes the rot behind Nigeria’s elite culture of wealth without honor,” Sowore wrote.
“When power and influence are built on manipulation, propaganda, and political patronage, the collapse is always inevitable. In the end, there is truly no honor among thieves,” he added.
The comments have since generated reactions online, with supporters and critics debating Sowore’s remarks as political tensions continue to build ahead of future elections.
Meanwhile, the ruling All Progressives Congress is currently conducting senatorial primary elections across different parts of the country.
Political observers say early outcomes from some of the primaries suggest that several serving senators seeking re-election may struggle to retain their seats amid shifting political alliances and internal party battles.
