Rivers State Commissioner for Youths, Chisom Gbali, has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Gbali’s resignation was conveyed in a letter dated May 13 and addressed to the APC chairman of Ward 1 in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State.
In the letter, the commissioner stated that his decision followed careful personal reflection and consideration.
“I wish to express my sincere appreciation to the leadership and members of the party for opportunities, relationship and experiences I gained during my time as a member of the party,” he wrote.
He also requested that his name be officially removed from the party’s membership records and registers.
“I kindly request that my name be removed from the party’s membership records and registers accordingly,” the letter added.
The resignation became public only a few hours after Governor Siminalayi Fubara announced his withdrawal from the APC governorship primary election.
Gbali’s exit has further fueled political speculation surrounding the ongoing power struggle and shifting alliances within Rivers State politics.
The state has remained politically tense following the prolonged rift between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, with several political figures continuing to realign ahead of future elections.
Observers believe the latest resignation could signal deeper divisions within the APC structure in Rivers State as the political crisis continues to unfold.
