A Facebook user, Peaceful Egefe, has called for government intervention in Akeddei community in Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, following claims of a high number of children and teenage mothers in the area.
Egefe raised the concern after sharing photographs he reportedly took in the community, drawing attention to the number of children and young mothers he encountered.
In a Facebook post on Monday, October 12, 2026, he claimed that some girls as young as 14 were already mothers of two or three children.
Describing the situation as alarming, Egefe appealed to the government to intervene and address the challenges facing the community.
“Akeddei community in Sagbama LGA has the most populated number of children, Omo 14 year old girl self in Akeddei community don born like two to three children, children full the community no were to drop legs self. Omo this community needs serious government intervention,” he wrote.
Egefe, who hails from another community in Bayelsa State, did not provide further details about the circumstances surrounding the reported cases of teenage motherhood.
His claims have raised concerns about the need for greater attention to adolescent health, access to education, child protection and support for young mothers.
