Nursing student Joy Ezeugwu, who was indefinitely suspended by Ezzy College of Nursing in Enugu State after exposing poor conditions at Uwani General Hospital, has resumed her studies at a new institution.
Ezeugwu shared a video online earlier this week, expressing excitement as she returned to school to continue her nursing education.
“First day at school, guys,” she said happily in the video.
Her resumption comes months after she faced disciplinary action over a viral video in which she highlighted alleged deficiencies at Uwani General Hospital, also known as Uwani Health Centre, in Enugu State.
In the video, Ezeugwu drew attention to the reported lack of electricity, running water, oxygen and baby monitoring equipment, as well as a mosquito infestation at the health facility.
The video generated widespread reactions on social media and brought attention to concerns about the condition of the hospital.
Following the controversy, Ezeugwu was detained by police after her school administrator reportedly filed a petition against her.
She was arrested by operatives of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Enugu on May 4, 2026, but was later released after meeting her bail conditions.
Her indefinite suspension from Ezzy College of Nursing threatened to disrupt her education.
However, Alex Onyia, chief executive officer of Educare, intervened to help her secure a transfer to another institution so she could continue her studies.
On October 13, Onyia announced that Ezeugwu had resumed at her new school, marking a fresh chapter in her nursing education.

Her return to the classroom has drawn attention to her efforts to continue pursuing her career despite the controversy surrounding the hospital video and the disciplinary action that followed.
