DSS Arraigns Five Suspects Over Kidnapping of 20 NYSC Prospective Corps Members in Imo

The Department of State Services (DSS) has arraigned five suspects allegedly linked to the abduction of 20 prospective members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Imo State.

The suspects were reportedly apprehended during intelligence-led operations carried out between October 10 and 14, 2026, in Rivers and Abia states.

The arrests followed the abduction of the prospective corps members, who were travelling from Ibadan, Oyo State, to their respective NYSC orientation camps in Abia and Akwa Ibom states.

The victims were reportedly kidnapped on October 1, 2026, along the Owerri-Onitsha Expressway in Imo State while making their journey to the orientation camps.

The incident raised concerns over the safety of prospective corps members travelling to their places of deployment, particularly amid persistent security challenges in parts of the country.

Following investigations into the incident, DSS operatives reportedly tracked down and arrested the five suspects in separate operations across the two states.

The suspects have now been brought before a court to face charges in connection with the alleged crime.

Further details about the charges, the suspects’ identities and the circumstances surrounding the abduction were not provided in the available information.
