Kenyan police have reportedly arrested a mother in Jomvu, Mombasa County, for allegedly locking her Grade 6 daughter inside their home to prevent her from sitting the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) over fears that her examination index number, 666, was satanic.
The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday, October 27, after the woman allegedly insisted that the number was forbidden in the Bible and posed a spiritual threat to her daughter’s safety.
Police were alerted to the situation and reportedly intervened to rescue the learner, allowing authorities to take the mother into custody.
Reports indicate that the woman attempted to justify her actions while speaking to journalists, maintaining her objection to her daughter’s participation in the national examination because of the assigned number.
The incident also reportedly involved the child’s father, who had earlier warned her against sitting the examination following concerns influenced by a pastor’s prophecy.
