The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has addressed reports claiming that he once carried a placard in protest against former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Adeboye, speaking during the church’s monthly Holy Ghost Service, denied ever leading or participating in a protest against Jonathan’s administration.
According to the respected cleric, what many people interpreted as a protest against the former president was actually a prayer walk and march against corruption in Nigeria.
He explained that the event was not organised to discredit Jonathan or his government but was aimed at calling for an end to corruption and promoting righteousness in the country.
Adeboye noted that, as a religious leader, he remains concerned about the state of the nation and would always support peaceful efforts aimed at promoting good governance.
“I did not carry any placard against Jonathan. What we did was a march against corruption.
“I have never protested against any government. My own is to pray for those in authority,” Adeboye clarified.
