Toluwanisings' Death: Wife, Father, Associates Sign Peace Deal After Police Intervention

The Oyo State Police Command has intervened in the controversy surrounding the death and burial arrangements of late gospel singer Olayemi Bayonle Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, securing a peace agreement between his family members and associates.

The police said the parties involved had signed an undertaking to maintain peace and refrain from public statements or exchanges capable of escalating tensions surrounding the singer’s death and burial.

Toluwanisings reportedly died in Ibadan on October 14, 2026, after suddenly slumping.

His death sparked controversy following allegations that some hospitals allegedly refused to provide emergency medical attention to him while efforts were being made to secure treatment.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, disclosed that the intervention followed reports of disagreements among the deceased’s relatives, friends and associates.

According to the police, the command received information on October 28 concerning the dispute, alongside allegations of conspiracy, defamation of character and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, subsequently invoked his statutory responsibilities under Section 4 of the Police Act and directed that the parties be invited to the Command Headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, to resolve the disagreement and prevent further escalation.

The statement disclosed that the parties eventually signed a peace undertaking before the Commissioner on November 3.

Those who participated in the agreement included the deceased’s wife, Mrs Olayemi Elizabeth Damilola; his father, Mr Muniru Olayemi; and his friends and associates, including Oyindamola Esther, Babadunni Gbolabo and Comrade Lawal Ademola Rafiu.

The singer’s personal assistant and other representatives were also part of the engagement.

Under the agreement, all parties committed themselves to maintaining peace and good conduct while avoiding actions capable of triggering further disagreements over the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death and burial.

They also agreed to discontinue public exchanges, interviews and discussions capable of inflaming tensions.

Furthermore, the parties undertook to stop circulating information, allegations, narratives and publications relating to the dispute across social media, newspapers, radio stations, blogs and other communication platforms.

The restriction also covers publications made through proxies, agents, representatives and associates.

The agreement equally prohibits the parties from granting interviews or facilitating media engagements aimed at further spreading disputed accounts of the singer’s death.

They were also directed to ensure that individuals acting on their behalf refrain from sponsoring, promoting, amplifying or circulating content capable of reigniting the disagreement.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police warned all parties to respect the terms of the agreement and ensure that their representatives, associates and proxies comply with the peace undertaking.

The police said the intervention was aimed at preventing further escalation of the dispute and maintaining public peace.
