Human rights activist Aisha Yesufu has warned mothers against allowing politicians to use their children as instruments of electoral malpractice and violence during the 2027 general elections.
Gists9ja reports that Yesufu issued the warning in a post shared on her X account, urging mothers to caution their children against being recruited by politicians to disrupt the electoral process.
She warned that young people who allow themselves to be used to snatch ballot boxes or perpetrate violence during the elections could lose their lives, stressing that Nigerians are prepared to defend their votes.
The activist said she understands the pain women endure during childbirth and the challenges involved in raising children in Nigeria, particularly amid the country’s prevailing economic difficulties.
Yesufu also acknowledged the growing frustration among Nigerians over the hardship in the country, describing their anger as justified.
In her message, she urged mothers to take responsibility for warning their children against allowing corrupt politicians to put their lives at risk for electoral gains.
She wrote, “My dear sisters, we know the pain of Labour and childbirth plus the wahala of child upbringing. Citizens are angry! And rightfully so.
“If your child is one of those they use to rig elections, warn your child! Do not let corrupt politicians make your child a statistic.”
