Anyichuks Campaign Knocks Nwifuru Over Silence on Achievements at APC Rally, Accuses Governor of Failed Leadership

The Anyichuks Campaign Office has criticised Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, over his remarks at the Southeast presidential campaign flag-off of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Women’s Mobilisation held at Okpara Square in Enugu State.

The campaign office accused Nwifuru of failing to highlight the achievements of his administration, describing his speech at the event as evidence of what it called four years of disappointing leadership.

In a statement signed by Emmanuel Igwe, spokesperson to Anyichuks, the campaign office expressed disappointment that while Governors Peter Mbah of Enugu State and Hope Uzodimma of Imo State reportedly highlighted projects and development initiatives undertaken by their administrations, Nwifuru concentrated on praising his Enugu counterpart.

According to the statement, the event provided an opportunity for the three governors to showcase their achievements and explain how public resources had been utilised to improve the lives of residents in their respective states.

However, the campaign office questioned why Nwifuru failed to use the occasion to present his administration’s scorecard to the people of Ebonyi State.

It particularly faulted the governor for commending Mbah’s initiatives in promoting unity, skills development and innovation among women without providing a comparable account of his administration’s efforts to improve the welfare and economic conditions of Ebonyi residents.

The statement described the governor’s remarks as a missed opportunity to demonstrate his government’s performance, arguing that residents deserved concrete evidence of progress after nearly four years in office.

“Ebonyi people deserve more than political slogans, praise-singing and repeated appeals for votes. They deserve leadership that can point to measurable improvements in their living conditions, infrastructure, education, healthcare, employment and economic opportunities,” the campaign office stated.

It further argued that Nwifuru’s appeal to women to support the APC, alongside his declaration that the party had an open manifesto, would have little impact on citizens who were more concerned about the practical benefits of governance.

The campaign office also linked the growing support for Anyichuks to what it described as increasing demand for a change in leadership in Ebonyi State.

It maintained that the state needed a government capable of translating its resources and human potential into meaningful development rather than relying on political promises and party endorsements.

According to the statement, Anyichuks represents the aspiration for a new political direction that prioritises economic opportunities, family empowerment, business support and improved living conditions.

“Leadership is not about praising another governor for what he has accomplished. It is about being able to stand before your own people and account for what you have done with the mandate and resources entrusted to you,” the campaign office added.

The group consequently urged Ebonyi residents to demand accountability, measurable performance and people-oriented governance ahead of the next political cycle.

It insisted that the state’s resources should deliver tangible benefits to ordinary citizens rather than serve narrow political interests.

The statement was signed by Emmanuel Igwe, spokesperson to Anyichuks.
