The governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in Enugu State, Mr. Chijioke Edeoga, has been described as a serial betrayal capable of sinking Enugu State, if elected governor of the state.
A senior reporter with PifMedia in Eha-Amufu, Isi-Uzo Local Government Area, Mr. Chigozie Okezie, stated this in a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday in Enugu.
Okezie accused the LP guber candidate of organising propagandists to attack his principal and the government he once served, noting that Edeoga is not worthy of the peoples’ trust.
According to him, Edeoga enjoyed the spoils of office as Commissioner in Enugu State, as well as other positions that Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the hard working Governor of Enugu State gave him.
He regretted that the LP guber candidate immediately ran out of the same government that gave him opportunity and began the most vicious attack on the Governor and the political party that him the opportunity for years.
The senior reporter added that Edoga betrayed every opportunity and time he was granted to prove himself in office and as such, doesn’t deserve the votes of Enugu people.
“Chijioke Edeoga ran for the PDP Governorship primary and lost. He congratulated Mr. Peter Mbah, the eventual winner, and now the PDP Governorship candidate.
“On the 8th of June, 2022 he issued a statement accepting the outcome of the Governorship primary election.
“But in less than one week, he ran to Labour Party. Is this the kind of character ndi Enugu will entrust their destinies into his hands for four years?
“It’s going to be a disaster because ordinary keeping to his own commitment and statement, he betrayed his own words. Is he now the kind of person the people will trust?
“Chijioke Edeoga is first cousin to Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. Enugu State is not a dynasty that are controlled by families. We are in a democracy.
“He has also served the Nwodos for long, where he is an in-law. He is married to Mrs Obayi’s (nee Nwodo) daughter”, Okezie said.
The journalist urged the Enugu people not be hoodwinked by those whose destiny are shrouded in mystery.
“Edeoga should never have aspired to run for governor. It’s the turn of Nkanu nation, which is in Enugu East Senatorial District.
“Let’s go with what we know, PDP, than jumping into an unknown destination with betrayals. Chijioke Edeoga from intents and purposes, should not be trusted with power”, Okezie warned.
