Many residents of the Igbobini and Ilu Agbo in Ese-Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State have been rendered homeless following heavy downpours over the weekend.
Reports obtained on Sunday revealed that the communities experienced three days of continuous heavy rainfall, causing significant damage in the communities.
The devastating flood was said to have forced affected residents to seek refuge at a primary school in Ilu Agbo.
“There are many residents of the two communities whose houses have been ravaged by the flood.
“Many of them are now taking refuge at the RCM Primary School Ilu Agbo. It is a serious matter,” Daily Post quoted one of the residents saying.
The residents have since appealed to the state government for assistance as the flood wreaked havoc in their communities.
Gists9ja learnt that the Chairman of Ese-Odo Local Government, Sipasi Aluko, has since visited the affected communities to assess the extent of the damage.
She appealed to both the state and federal governments to urgently come to the aid of the affected residents.
