The Nigerian police have confirmed one Mustapha Fannani as the farmer whose two hands were chopped off by herders in Borno State.
The incident happened on Friday in Bassam Galomari village in the Gubio Local Government Area of the state, according to the police.
Today reported how Fulani herders violently attacked a farmer and cut off his two hands in the Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State.
The incident was reported to have caused panic in the village, forcing locals to flee the area.
However, security forces were swiftly drafted to apprehend the perpetrators and to restore normalcy.
While confirming the incident to SaharaReporters on Saturday, spokesperson for the police in Borno State, ASP Nahum Daso Kenneth, disclosed the identity of the victim as Mustapha Fannani.
He said, “Yes I’ve received a report like that from the Divisional Police Officer (in Gubio).
“He said one Goni Musa of Gubio town reported that at about 2:15 pm on the day, some armed herders invaded their farm, destroyed their crops and efforts to chase them away proved abortive. So during an altercation the herders cut the two hands of his brother, known as Mustapha Fannani.”
Kenneth added that investigation was ongoing to get the assailants arrested.
