PDP Demands Urgent Investigation into Poorly Executed Multi-Billion Naira Yauri Township Roads Project

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kebbi is calling for an immediate investigation into the substandard execution of the multi-billion naira Yauri township roads project. This plea was made by the party’s Secretary, Alhaji Abubakar Bawa-Kalgo, during a press briefing held in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday, October 22.

Expressing profound disappointment, Bawa-Kalgo stated, “The PDP is appalled by the poor execution of the ongoing multi-billion naira Yauri township roads project; this situation is both unfortunate and extremely distasteful.”

Recent reports from the area reveal that many roads are deteriorating rapidly, with significant caving and cracking occurring just months after their supposed completion. This alarming situation has raised concerns among residents and party officials alike.

The PDP has demanded that the State Ministry of Works take full accountability for this apparent breach of contract and take swift action to address the issue. “It is crucial that the State Ministry of Works acknowledges this glaring contractual violation,” Bawa-Kalgo emphasized.

He also urged Governor Nasir Idris to take decisive measures against any officials found negligent in their responsibilities, stressing that accountability is vital to prevent future occurrences of this nature. “This accountability is essential to safeguard the state’s limited resources from waste, ensuring that we derive the necessary value from such projects,” he stated.

Highlighting the significance of the project, Bawa-Kalgo noted that it directly affects the lives of the impoverished and must not be compromised. “The PDP is deeply shocked that a project of this magnitude could be so poorly managed at such an early stage,” he concluded, pointing to earlier warnings from vigilant residents regarding the construction quality.
