Nollywood actor Ugezu Ugezu has publicly expressed his strong disapproval of the recent decision to remove Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye from her position as Minister of Women Affairs. This significant change was made by President Bola Tinubu on October 23, during a cabinet reshuffle that also saw the dismissal of five other ministers.
In a passionate post on his Instagram page, Ugezu criticized the dismissal, emphasizing that Kennedy-Ohanenye was diligently working to help citizens experience the “renewed hope” promised by the Tinubu administration. He highlighted the minister’s commitment and hard work, arguing that her removal would discourage those who genuinely aspire to bring about meaningful change in the country’s governance and its various departments.
Ugezu pointed out that such actions could undermine the efforts of individuals who are dedicated to transforming Nigeria for the better, stating, “The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, who promised the citizens RENEWED HOPE, sacks the Minister who worked assiduously for the citizens to feel a sense of renewed hope. It tells us something… the leaders of the country are not ready for realistic change.” He further lamented that such dismissals contribute to an environment where corruption can thrive, ultimately expressing his sadness over the current political climate. Through his remarks, Ugezu calls attention to the need for consistent and genuine efforts to improve governance and uplift the nation.
