Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has appointed Prince Kenneth Okwuchukwu Emeakayi as his Special Adviser on Community Security, a decision made in light of recent violence in the state.
Emeakayi was formally inaugurated during a ceremony at the Anambra State Government House executive chambers in Awka on Tuesday.
He previously served as the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State and most recently held the position of President-General of the Okija community in Ihiala Local Government Area, where he was acknowledged for his efforts in managing local security.
While Ihiala LGA has been noted for insecurity and has been associated with camps of secessionist groups, the Okija community has remained peaceful, largely due to Emeakayi’s leadership.
In his new role, he will focus on improving local security measures across various communities in the state.
Additionally, Governor Soludo has confirmed that the minimum wage for workers in the state will remain at ₦70,000. He noted that after accounting for deductions like union dues and taxes, workers might actually receive between ₦78,000 and ₦84,000 monthly.
However, he chose not to disclose this figure as it would still result in a take-home pay of ₦70,000. Soludo assured that no worker in Anambra State will earn less than ₦70,000.
He made these remarks during a meeting with labor leaders at the Governor’s lodge in Amawbia over the weekend.
