On Tuesday, U.S. President Joe Biden called President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria, as confirmed by Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar.

Gists9ja reports that the call, which took place around 4 p.m. Nigerian time and lasted approximately 30 minutes, focused on recent developments, including Nigeria’s release of Tigran Gambaryan, Binance’s Head of Finance Crime Compliance.

Speaking to reporters, Tuggar said the leaders discussed law enforcement collaboration and the responsibilities of relevant agencies in both countries. He noted that President Tinubu expressed appreciation for the U.S.’s support in various areas, particularly regarding African and West African security. Biden emphasized the importance of their partnership, highlighting Africa’s growing role on the global stage.

Additionally, Tuggar shared that Biden and Tinubu talked about Nigeria’s potential for a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council. Biden assured Tinubu of the U.S.’s commitment to Africa’s representation, expressing support for Nigeria’s inclusion on the council.
