BREAKING: Unupgraded Meters to Be Deactivated After.....

Mainpower Electricity Distribution Limited, formerly known as Enugu Electricity Distribution, has informed customers that meters not upgraded by November 24, 2024, will no longer function.

In a statement released on Friday, the company explained that the deadline aligns with the global Token Identifier (TID) rollover, impacting all Standard Transfer Specification-compliant prepaid meters worldwide.

“Mainpower encourages affected customers to recharge their prepaid meters, allowing them to receive the three 20-digit codes required for the upgrade process,” the statement read. “Customers should enter each 20-digit code sequentially and press ‘enter’ to complete the upgrade.”

The company clarified that any prepaid meter not updated by the November deadline will stop accepting credit tokens, effectively rendering it unusable.

Mainpower also emphasized that the upgrade is free of charge and that customers who have already completed the process can disregard this notice.

In recent months, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, along with distribution companies across the country, has advised customers to ensure their meters are upgraded to avoid service interruptions.
