Former presidential media aide Doyin Okupe has responded to the recent appointment of Daniel Bwala as the Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications to President Bola Tinubu.
On Thursday, November 14, the presidency officially announced that Bwala, a lawyer from Borno State, would be joining the president’s team as one of his numerous media aides. This appointment follows the president’s earlier selection of former sports minister, Sunday Dare, as Special Adviser on Public Communication and Orientation.
Bwala, who previously served as a spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar, has been notably critical of Tinubu, once claiming that “Even if you give Tinubu 30 years, he can’t perform.”
In response, Okupe commented that Bwala’s past criticisms are inconsequential, emphasizing that “politics is about interests, not friendships.”
Okupe shared his thoughts on X (formerly Twitter), saying: “I congratulate Daniel Bwala on his appointment as Special Adviser on Communication. It is a well-deserved role that suits him perfectly. Vance, once a staunch critic of Trump, is now his Vice President. Politics is driven by shifting allegiances and priorities, not personal friendships.”
