X user, Jeremiah Jackson Penking, better known as Dr. Penking, has shared a poignant reaction following the arrival of the body of the late Nigerian Senator, Ifeanyi Ubah, ahead of his burial.
Senator Ubah, a well-known businessman and former lawmaker, passed away on July 27, 2024, after suffering a cardiac arrest in London at the age of 52. Reports indicate that he had traveled to the United Kingdom two days earlier, on July 25, and was admitted to a hospital for surgery, where he later died. His body was repatriated to Nigeria on Thursday, in preparation for his burial, which is set for November 22, 2024.
In response to the somber event, Dr. Penking took to social media to offer a reflective commentary on life and its transient nature. He urged Nigerians to pause and consider the impermanence of material wealth, highlighting that in the end, it is not riches or status that define a person, but the impact they leave behind.
Dr. Penking wrote, “Did you notice where they are bringing him out from? It’s the cargo section of the plane, the part where luggage is stored for passenger planes and stockfish for cargo planes. This is a man who was reportedly worth an estimated 170 billion dollars. But what was all that wealth for? In the end, it means nothing.”
He went on to emphasize that wealth and riches hold no lasting value after death. “At the end of the day, wealth and riches do not matter. It is the good you have done in this world, the lives you have touched, and the legacy you leave behind that will truly speak for you when you are gone,” he concluded.
Through his words, Dr. Penking encouraged others to reflect on the meaning of their own lives and the true measure of success, which, he suggests, lies not in material accumulation but in one’s contributions to others and society.
