Bauchi APC Elders Raise Alarm Over Worsening Hardship

APC Elders in Bauchi Urge Federal Government to Take Urgent Action Against Economic Hardship

The Tinubu/Kashim Elders Mobilisation Circle of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State has expressed growing concern over the worsening economic conditions in Nigeria, calling for urgent and strategic measures to address the deepening economic crisis. In a strongly worded statement, the group urged the Federal Government to take immediate action to alleviate the mounting hardships faced by ordinary Nigerians.

Isah Marafa, the secretary of the Tinubu/Kashim Elders Mobilisation Circle, shared his concerns during an interview with journalists on Monday, emphasizing that the country’s economic challenges were becoming increasingly untenable. Marafa called on the federal government to urgently address rising inflation, the soaring costs of living, and the deteriorating conditions in vital sectors such as security, education, and healthcare.

“The situation in Nigeria is getting worse by the day. The cost of living is skyrocketing, and inflation is eating into the livelihoods of Nigerians, particularly the poor and vulnerable. From fuel to food and basic services, every aspect of daily life has become more expensive,” Marafa lamented. “It is no longer just about statistics; it is about the reality that Nigerians are facing in their homes, at the markets, and in every part of the country. The government must act swiftly.”

Marafa specifically pointed to the severe impact of rising fuel prices, which have compounded the challenges faced by Nigerians. He stressed that the hike in fuel prices has a ripple effect on virtually every sector, from transportation to goods and services, exacerbating the overall economic strain.

“These rising fuel costs are not just a price increase at the pumps; they have a far-reaching impact on virtually every facet of life. The average Nigerian is feeling the pinch, whether it’s at the market, in their homes, or in their work. It has affected the transportation sector, making it more expensive for people to get to work or school, and it’s also affecting the cost of goods and services across the country,” Marafa stated.

While acknowledging the federal government’s efforts to address the economic downturn, Marafa urged for more urgent and decisive steps to stabilize the economy. He emphasized the importance of implementing policies that could provide immediate relief to the suffering masses, particularly the most vulnerable groups who are struggling to survive amid the economic turmoil.

“While we understand that the government is working to address these issues, the time for talking is over. The situation is dire, and the people cannot wait any longer. Our leaders must act decisively to stabilize the economy and bring relief to the suffering citizens. Poor Nigerians need immediate relief, and our leaders at all levels must rise to the occasion,” he said.

Marafa also made a special appeal to the leadership in Bauchi State, urging them to take proactive measures to support their constituents during this period of economic distress. He emphasized the importance of local government leadership in ensuring that the needs of the people are met and that state-level initiatives are put in place to ease the economic burden on the population.

“The leaders of Bauchi State must not sit idly by. They must take active steps to support their people. The state government should prioritize measures that can directly benefit the people, whether it’s through subsidies, support for local businesses, or initiatives to reduce the cost of living,” Marafa urged.

In a final note, Marafa also called for divine intervention, recognizing the severity of the situation and the need for a collective effort to overcome the economic crisis. He urged Nigerians to pray for God’s mercy and guidance, believing that only divine intervention could provide the breakthrough needed to turn the nation’s fortunes around.

“Only God can lift us from this situation,” Marafa declared. “We must pray for God’s mercy and guidance, for without His intervention, it will be difficult to navigate out of this economic hardship.”

This statement from the Tinubu/Kashim Elders Mobilisation Circle highlights the growing frustration and concerns of many Nigerians, as the economic situation continues to worsen. The call for urgent government intervention, combined with a spiritual plea for divine help, underscores the urgent need for comprehensive solutions to address the nation’s economic challenges.

As inflation continues to rise and critical sectors like education, healthcare, and security deteriorate, citizens and leaders alike are looking for ways to bring about meaningful change and relief.
