Produce National Chairman - PDP BOT Tells North-Central

The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on leaders from the North-Central zone to nominate a replacement for the party’s former National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.

This request was made during an emergency meeting held on Thursday in Abuja, with the communique read by BoT Chairman, Adolphus Wabara.

Key Decisions and Concerns

The BoT urged the North-Central leaders to convene a meeting of stakeholders in order to put forward a suitable candidate to replace Ayu. This move follows a thorough assessment of the current state of the party and the broader political environment.

Expressing deep concern over the state of affairs within the PDP, the BoT emphasized the need for the party to restore internal harmony, unity, stability, and public confidence. They called for immediate action from the National Working Committee (NWC) to adhere to the PDP constitution, especially regarding the zoning of party offices to the various geopolitical zones.

Call for Action and Unity

The BoT also addressed the PDP Governors’ Forum, urging greater unity and cooperation with other party organs to expedite the resolution of ongoing issues. One of the critical points raised was the continued delay in convening a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, which has eroded trust within the party. The BoT warned that further postponements of the NEC meeting, scheduled for February 2025, could undermine the party’s leadership and escalate existing challenges.
