Kwara State Chief of Staff, Prince Abdul Kadir Mahe, Dies

Prince Abdul Kadir Mahe, the Chief of Staff to Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has passed away.

The sad news was confirmed in a statement released by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaiye, on Saturday morning in Ilorin.

Mahe, who served as the second Chief of Staff in the current administration, died in the early hours of Saturday, December 28, 2024. The announcement was made with deep sorrow as the family and the state government submitted to the will of Allah.

A Statement from the Governor’s Office

In the statement, the Governor’s office expressed profound sadness over Mahe’s passing, describing him as a “perfect gentleman,” a “community leader,” and an “urbane public servant.” The statement reads:

“In total submission to the will of Allah, we regret to announce the passing of the Chief of Staff to His Excellency, Prince Abdul Kadir Mahe. He died this morning, December 28, 2024, as has been destined by Allaah.”

The statement also indicated that Mahe would be buried later that day, following the Asr prayer, at his residence on Moro Street, Adewole Estate, Ilorin.

Condolences and Tributes

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq expressed deep condolences to the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, as well as to Mahe’s immediate family, government officials, and members of the state cabinet. The Governor described Mahe as a quintessential public servant whose contributions to the development of the state would be greatly missed.

“We ask for the understanding of everyone at this mournful period as the government and family mourn the loss of this invaluable public servant,” the statement added.

The Governor also offered prayers for the deceased, saying: “We pray that Allaah accepts his return, eases his accounts, admits him to al-Jannah Firdaus, and upholds his family upon goodness.”

A History of Loss in the Governor’s Office

Prince Abdul Kadir Mahe’s death marks a significant loss for Kwara State, as it follows the passing of the Governor’s first Chief of Staff, Adisa Logun, who died in 2020 due to complications from COVID-19.

Mahe’s death leaves a void in the Governor’s administration, as he was regarded as a key figure in the state’s governance and development efforts.
