I don’t guarantee anything’: Neymar admits he could WALK AWAY from Brazil

Neymar has raised doubts about his international future after Brazil were ejected from the 2022 World Cup at the quarter-final stage by Croatia.

Brazil lost a penalty shootout against the 2018 runners-up, after drawing 1-1 in extra time at the Education City Stadium.

When questioned about his international future after the match, 30-year-old Neymar said he could not ‘guarantee anything’ about his future involvement with Brazil.

Neymar told reporters: ‘Honestly, I do not know. I think talking now is bad because of the heat of the moment. Maybe I’m not thinking straight.

‘To say that this is the end would be rushing myself, but I don’t guarantee anything either. Let’s see what happens going forward.

‘I want to take this time to think about it, think about what I want for myself. I will not close the door to playing with Brazil, nor do I say 100% that I’ll come back.’

After a goalless 90 minutes, Neymar struck Brazil ahead in extra time, only for Bruno Petkovic to equalise for Croatia in the 116th minute.

In the penalty shootout, Brazil missed twice, first through Rodrygo, and then Marquinhos hit the post with a spot-kick he had to score to keep the 2019 Copa American champions in contention.

Tite later confirmed that Neymar was set to take Brazil’s fifth penalty, but they were already out as Croatia were faultless from 12 yards out.

Dani Alves has already confirmed that he has played his last match for the Brazil national side. He was an unused substitute in the quarter-final, making his last appearance as a substitute in the round-of-16 win against South Korea.

The right-back has pledged to continue at club level. The 39-year-old currently plays for Mexican side UNAM.

Brazil boss Tite also confirmed that he will not be taking charge of the national side moving forward, after their second straight elimination at the quarter-final stage.
