The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, paid a courtesy visit to Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.
During the visit, Pastor Adeboye prayed for the Governor, his family, the state government, and the peace, unity, and progress of Rivers State. The revered cleric also presented gifts to Governor Fubara, symbolizing goodwill and spiritual blessings.
Governor Fubara was accompanied by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, while Pastor Adeboye was joined by senior pastors and other church leaders. The visit is seen as a significant act of spiritual support for the Governor and the people of Rivers State.
Pastor Adeboye’s prayers are particularly timely, given the state’s history of challenges and its ongoing efforts to foster development and harmony.
Governor Fubara Advises New Police Commissioner on Security Priorities
In related developments, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has advised the new Commissioner of Police for Rivers State, Olugbenga Adepoju, to remain focused on maintaining peace and stability while avoiding actions that could harm the people of Rivers State.
The Governor issued the advice during a courtesy visit by the CP to the Government House in Port Harcourt on Friday.
“You are not new to Rivers State. You’ve been here, especially in charge of operations, so you understand our security challenges,” the Governor remarked.
Fubara emphasized the importance of collaboration with the government and other security agencies to ensure law and order. He urged the Commissioner to steer clear of political interference, cautioning against “nocturnal meetings” that could lead to actions detrimental to the state’s people.
The Governor also tasked the CP with developing a comprehensive strategy to address pressing security concerns, particularly cultism among youths and kidnapping in boundary communities.
“These issues are affecting our schools, where students are growing into societal threats. It’s also fueling other problems like kidnapping. While total elimination may be impossible, I urge you to find ways to significantly reduce these challenges,” Fubara stated.
Governor Fubara assured the Commissioner of his administration’s continued support for security agencies, stressing that their efforts are vital to safeguarding lives and property in Rivers State.
