It was an atmosphere of joy, conviviality and re-union as Ndi Umudioka Awka, Awka South Local Government Area held a grand reception for one of their illustrious sons, Mr. Ossy Onuko who is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA).
The event which was held at Ndichie Hall Umudioka Obunese, attracted Governor Chukwuma Soludo, represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, Commissioners, top government officials, members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, youths, men, women, children among others.
Appreciating Ndi Umudioka for the reception in honour of their son, governor Soludo thanked them for the support they have been giving to his administration since he assumed office nine months ago, and revealed that his Government is currently constructing over two hundred and fifty one kilometers of roads across Anambra state, out of which about seventeen kilometers of roads are being done in Awka.
The governor who described Mr. Onuko as a symbol of an ideal Anambra youth, said that his administration has employed five thousand teachers to enhance the state’s education sector, employed over three hundred doctors, nurses and paramedics to ensure adequate health of Ndi Anambra, mapped out over two point five billion naira for youth empowerment, and is fighting insecurity head-on, among others.
Governor Soludo appealed to Ndi Awka and Anambra residents in general to keep supporting APGA by ensuring that all the party’s candidates in the 2023 elections are voted for.
The Anambra state Commissioner for Industry, Dr. Humphrey Ngonadi described Mr. Onuko as a good man who has a lot of potentials as evident in his transformation agenda in Awka Capital Territory since he assumed office, and urged Ndi Umudioka to keep praying for him.
The APGA Candidate for Awka North and South Federal Constituency, Hon. Obi Nwankwo as well as the APGA Candidate for Awka South One Constituency, Mr. Igwedimma Nwofor all described the ACTDA boss as a shining light that should be emulated by youths, and called for support to Mr. Onuko and APGA as a party during the forthcoming general elections for the betterment of Anambra state.
Responding, Mr. Onuko who was overwhelmed with joy for the honour done him, listed some of the major achievements of ACTDA in less than two months under his watch, and thanked Governor Soludo for finding him worthy to serve in his government and promised that he will never disappoint both the state government and his people, by discharging his duties dispassionately.
Earlier while breaking the kolanut, Ichie Nwammadi Nwaonwu prayed God to continue to bless and protect Mr. Onuko at all times, as well as keep elevating him.
Some of the dignitaries that attended the event were, the Anambra state Commissioner for Lands, Prof. Offornze Amucheazi (SAN), an APGA chieftain, Comrade Obi Ochije Modilim, Engineer Chuks-michael Mofunanya, among numerous others.
The ACTDA Managing Director equally used the event to extend his Christmas largesse to his people, even as some stakeholders were officially received into the APGA family during the reception.
The reception climaxed when Ndi Ichie Umudioka Awka prayed for Mr. Onuko, gave him symbol of authority according to the community’s tradition as well as musical interlude and dance.
