Governor Caleb Muftwang has revealed that the recent attacks and killings in Plateau State are being carried out by terrorist groups with external backing.
During an interview on Channels Television on Tuesday, the governor stated that over 50 lives have been lost, and thousands of residents have been displaced by the violence that has plagued the state in recent weeks.
The attacks have been particularly devastating in several communities within the Bokkos Local Government Area (LGA) in the North-Central region of Nigeria, causing widespread destruction and forcing many to flee their homes.
Governor Muftwang explained that these attacks are not random but are the result of coordinated efforts by unnamed terrorist groups who are being funded with the intention of targeting and annihilating certain communities in Plateau State.
The governor emphasized that the security agencies must uncover the identities of those behind these attacks and work together to restore peace to the affected areas. “In all honesty, the only explanation I can offer is that this is genocide orchestrated by terrorists. The pressing question is, who are the individuals responsible for orchestrating this terrorism? This is what the security forces need to help us uncover,” he said.
Muftwang urged the security agencies to collaborate effectively, ensuring that they are not working at cross purposes, but rather as a unified front in order to gather the critical intelligence needed to resolve the crisis. He expressed confidence that, in time, the perpetrators would be brought to justice, and peace would be restored to Plateau State.
