A political affairs analyst, Ibrahim Modibo, has called for the removal of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, over the persistent insecurity across Nigeria. Modibo made the call on Friday during an interview, where he argued that the NSA had failed in his duties. He spoke while addressing the worsening security situation in the country. The public affairs commentator also condemned the recent terrorist attacks on military Forward Operating Bases, which reportedly led to the deaths of at least three General Commanding Officers. “The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, should be sacked. He has failed. The security architecture has failed. And if someone is failing exams, will he continue graduating? He should be let go. “You see, indeed, there is a need for us to break the glass ceilings with a view to plucking some low hanging fruits within the cycles of security in this country. “Now, secondly, for me, there are some fundamental steps to take. Why are we not using technology? “Apart from drone surveillance, assuming, without considering that our military is equipped with state-of-the-art materials, is it not possible or don’t they have surveillance cameras that could monitor the surroundings of military control areas? “The base is about five kilometres, so that for 24 hours, we will have officers monitoring the environment, observing the bushes and detecting any movement. Because the Governor of Zamfara State told us not long ago that from his office he can see almost everywhere. So for God’s sake, can’t money be used to secure technological input that will allow satellite monitoring in those areas? “Also, these terrorists, for a very long time, have been capturing people, going into villages and collecting ransom. “For God’s sake, ransoms have been paid and the security agencies know. Don’t they have technological pins that could be inserted into the money to track these criminals wherever they are?” he asked. Read more »
