A Nigerian bank customer has publicly accused Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) of failing to address an alleged unauthorized withdrawal of ₦395,424 from his account, sparking reactions on social media.

The customer, who shared his complaint online while tagging the bank’s official handle on X, claimed the money was withdrawn from his account on March 3, 2026, using an ATM card he said had not been used since 2024.
According to the aggrieved customer, officials at a GTBank branch in Ikorodu told him there was little they could do about the situation, allegedly insisting that the transaction was carried out with his ATM card.
Frustrated by the response, the customer accused bank staff of wrongdoing and threatened to remain inside the bank premises until the matter is resolved.
“My money left my account on the 3rd of March, 2026. You people don’t know how things are done. Today I will sleep in GTBank,” he wrote.
He further claimed that the ATM card used for the withdrawal had not been used for online transactions and insisted he did not authorize the withdrawal of ₦395,424.
The customer also called on other Nigerians to reconsider keeping their funds with the bank, expressing concern about the safety of deposits, particularly for pensioners.
As of the time of filing this report, Guaranty Trust Bank has not publicly responded to the allegations. The claims also remain unverified, and it is unclear whether an internal investigation into the disputed transaction has been initiated.
Disputes over unauthorized withdrawals are not uncommon in the banking sector, and financial institutions typically investigate such cases to determine whether the transactions were legitimate or the result of fraud.
