Beneficiaries of the Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s ‘One Youth Two Skills’ project in Aguata have applauded the initiative.
Speaking at the presentation of certificates and grants a beneficiary, Miss Ngozi Unegbu lauded the governor’s stride, noting that this was the first time she witnessed such project.
“When we heard of the One Youth Two Skills programme, we thought it was not genuine but with the presentation of the cheques to us, we are now confident that Governor Soludo’s administration means well for youths in Anambra.
“As a master trainer in ICT, there are some skills we lacked which we were exposed to during the training.
“I told other trainees that even if the government didn’t give us any funds at the end of the training, the skills we acquired for free should encourage us to train others.’’
Another beneficiary, Miss Chidimma Offorkaja, said she trained in the Beauty and Gele head tie, adding that she never believed the programme was real.
“From the outset of the programme, many of us thought it was a joke and didn’t take it seriously.
“As days went by, we came to realize that the government was serious about the project.’’
“We were given cheques of ₦400,000, ₦220,000 depending on the field you were trained.
“I pray that God should bless the governor for this wonderful initiative and promise to train others with the skills I acquired.’’
Reacting also, Mr. Ugochukwu Okafor said he was into building but had acquired another skill in automobile as a result of participating in the scheme.
“I have skills in building but I can now repair car steering, engine blocks and cylinder heads, I thank Governor Soludo for this.
“I am happy that I am a beneficiary of this exercise because I have acquired new skills and was also given a grant of ₦200,000.’’
