The Nanka community in Anambra state has been thrown into state of pandemonium and tension following the gruesome murder and adoption of two natives of the community yesterday by yet to be identified gunmen. The gunmen who stormed the community in a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) reportedly killed one Mr. Joe Mohel, a native of the town and also adopted one Ichie Patrick Ezeanaka, a chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party in Nanka, whose whereabouts is still unknown. An eyewitness stated that Mr. Joe Mohel, a ward chairman of YPP in Nanka was shot dead following an attempt to escape from the unknown gunmen who were in a mission to adopt him alongside Ichie Ezeanaka, who surrendered to them and was whisked away. Ichie Patrick Ezeanaka is said to be a community leader and strong PDP member in Nanka community. His adoption has seen thrown the community in state of pandemonium. Ichie Patrick Ezeanaka was reported to have survived two kidnapping attempts by gunmen until this last one.
Following this incident, the residents of the community who are now living in fear expressed worries that the activities of the Unknown Gunmen is now becoming a daily occurrence in the community. They alleged that kidnapping has become a daily occurrence in Nanka community and neighboring communities.
The residents are pleading with the Anambra State Government and security agents to bring to book perpetrators of insecurity in Nanka and as well restore security in the community.
