Presidential aide, Bayo Onanuga, has reacted to the emergence of Douye Diri as the winner of the Bayelsa governorship election.
Diri, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the Bayelsa governorship election won his re-election after the result of the last local government, Southern Ijaw was announced.
Diri won six local government areas to win re-election while his closest rival, Timipre Sylva of the All Progressives Congress (APC) won two local government areas.
After the result of Southern Ijaw was declared, the margin between Diri and his closest challenger, Timipre Sylva, climbed to 65,088.
Diri polled a total of 175,196 votes to defeat his main challenger, Sylva, who polled 110,108 votes to win the governorship election.
Reacting to the development in a post via his X handle on Monday, Onanuga congratulated Diri on his re-election as the Bayelsa governor.
He wrote: “Congrats to Governor Douye Diri of the PDP for winning re-election in Bayelsa.”
