Burna Boy Rejected $1m To Perform In Delta - Mr Jollof Reveals

Mr Jollof, the comedian, has claimed that Burna Boy, the singer, rejected $1 million to perform at a concert in Delta state.

In a post via Instagram, Mr Jollof said he and investors approached Burna Boy’s team with the offer, but they rejected it because it was “too small”.

He also suggested that Burna Boy may have outgrown the Nigerian market due to a lack of appreciation.

“Me and some investors reached out to Burna Boy’s team for a concert in Delta state for One Million US Dollars (1.3 billion Naira today’s rate). Guess what? They said it is too small,” he wrote in pidgin English.

“Burna Boy no dey Nigeria lane again oo because we did not utilise him enough before he was exported to global music market. No jokes.”

Mr Jollof’s claim comes at about the same time when the city of Boston, Massachusetts, declared March 2 as “Burna Boy Day” in recognition of his artistic contributions and advocacy efforts.

In 2021, Burna Boy set a record in Nigeria after his fifth album ‘Twice As Tall’ won the ‘Best World Music Album’ category at the Grammy Awards.
