PDP Vows to Recover Mandate Following Lawmaker's Defection to APC

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Zamfara State has expressed deep disappointment over Hon. Sulaiman Abubakar Gummi’s recent switch to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The PDP views Gummi’s defection as a betrayal, not only of the party but also of the people of Gummi/Bukkuyum, who elected him under the PDP banner.

In a statement from PDP spokesperson Andi Haliru in Gusau, it was emphasized that Gummi’s departure was not due to any internal party conflict, raising questions about his commitment to the party’s principles.

In response, the PDP announced plans to challenge Gummi’s defection in court and reaffirmed its dedication to reclaiming the mandate given to him by the people of Gummi/Bukkuyum.

“We believe his actions undermine both the democratic process and the trust placed in him by his constituents,” the PDP stated.

“To address this breach of trust, the PDP state chapter will pursue legal action against Hon. Gummi’s defection.”

The party reassured the people of Gummi and Bukkuyum Local Government Areas that it remains united and committed to serving their interests.

“Our dedication to you and our mission will not falter. We will work tirelessly to restore the trust compromised by this decision,” the PDP affirmed.
