UCL: Lookman Shines in Atalanta Victory as Inter Narrowly Defeats Arsenal

Ademola Lookman opened the scoring to lead Atalanta to a 2-0 win over VFB Stuttgart in their UEFA Champions League group stage match at MPHArena in Germany on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old’s impressive form has coincided with Atalanta’s improved run, as the club remains unbeaten in their last eight matches across all competitions.

Lookman’s goal, coming in the second half, helped secure Atalanta’s second win in the group stages. With four games played, Atalanta remains undefeated and has yet to concede a goal.

Displaying his increasing precision in the penalty area, Lookman made a well-timed run to connect with Charles De Ketelaere’s low cross, slotting it home from close range.

This goal marks the former Everton player’s 10th of the season.

Nicolo Zaniolo added a second goal in the 88th minute, securing the victory for the Bergamo-based side. With eight points from four games, Gianpiero Gasperini’s team is in a strong position as the group stage reaches its midpoint.

In other matches, Nigeria’s Victor Olatunji scored his second Champions League group-stage goal, though it was not enough to prevent Sparta Prague from falling 2-1 to Brest. Meanwhile, Robert Lewandowski scored twice as Barcelona cruised to a 5-2 win at Red Star Belgrade. Inter Milan clinched a 1-0 victory over Arsenal with a first-half penalty, and Angel Correa struck late to give Atletico Madrid a 2-1 win against PSG in Paris.
