Governor Caleb Muftwang of Plateau State has firmly denied the circulating rumors suggesting that he has abandoned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement issued on Thursday, the governor dismissed the claims as completely false, labeling them as the work of mischief makers intent on sowing discord and confusion among the public.
The rumors, which included a manipulated photograph of the governor standing alongside several APC governors allegedly preparing to welcome President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Edo State, were specifically refuted by Governor Muftwang. He called the doctored image a deliberate attempt to undermine his political loyalty and to mislead the public into questioning his allegiance to the PDP.
Governor Muftwang reaffirmed his strong commitment to the PDP, the party through which he was elected to lead Plateau State. He emphasized that he had no intentions of leaving the party, categorically stating that he remains dedicated to fulfilling his mandate and serving the people of Plateau under the PDP’s banner. He also assured his supporters and the broader public that the rumors were fabricated and that the intentions behind them were rooted in divisive political maneuvering.
In his statement, which was issued by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, Governor Muftwang further reassured members of the PDP in Plateau State and the North Central Zone that he was actively engaging with key stakeholders to address any challenges the party was facing in the region. He expressed his continued willingness to collaborate with the federal government, led by President Bola Tinubu, to ensure the development and progress of Plateau State.
Governor Muftwang’s firm stance on these issues underscores his dedication to the PDP and his focus on advancing the interests of Plateau State, despite the distractions of misleading information circulating on social media. He called on his supporters to remain united and to disregard the false narratives being spread by those with ulterior motives.
