The Federal Government has officially declared Wednesday, December 25, Thursday, December 26, 2024, and Wednesday, January 1, 2025, as public holidays in celebration of Christmas, Boxing Day, and the New Year.
This declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo conveyed warm greetings to all Nigerians, encouraging them to embrace the festive season’s core values of love, peace, and unity. He urged citizens to use the holiday as an opportunity to strengthen family relationships and foster harmony in their communities.
He emphasized that the Christmas season is a special time for both spiritual reflection and national renewal. “As we commemorate the birth of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, let us embody kindness and extend goodwill to everyone, regardless of our differences,” Tunji-Ojo remarked.
The Minister also reiterated the government’s ongoing commitment to ensuring peace, security, and prosperity throughout the country. He called on Nigerians to continue their support for the nation’s development and remain dedicated to its progress.
Looking ahead, Dr. Tunji-Ojo expressed optimism for the future, particularly regarding the impact of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He highlighted that this agenda is poised to bring about significant economic growth and prosperity in the coming year.
