Security Operatives Recover Explosive Devices in Anambra

A joint security operation led by the Nigerian Police Force has successfully dismantled a notorious criminal camp in Nimo, located within the Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The operation, which took place in the early hours of Tuesday, involved a coordinated effort by various security agencies, including the military, the Civil Defence Corps, and local vigilante groups.

This significant operation was confirmed by Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer for Anambra State, in a statement released on Sunday. According to Ikenga, the action was prompted by credible intelligence gathered regarding the criminal activities in the region, as well as information obtained from suspects previously arrested in ongoing police operations across the state.

Anambra State’s Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Obono Itam, commended the collaboration among the various security agencies and the role of the local community in providing vital intelligence. He highlighted the importance of continued cooperation in ensuring the safety and security of residents, especially during the festive period.

The Commissioner also issued a directive to private and public hospitals in the state, urging them to immediately report any cases of individuals with bullet wounds or injuries of a suspicious nature to the nearest police station. This measure is part of ongoing efforts to capture the remaining suspects and prevent further criminal activity.
