Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has appointed Oluwatoyin Taiwo as his new Chief of Staff. Before this appointment, Taiwo had served as the Deputy Chief of Staff and previously held the position of Commissioner for Culture and Tourism during Abiodun’s first term in office.
The announcement was made in a statement signed by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, and shared with journalists on Thursday. According to the statement, Taiwo’s appointment officially took effect on December 18, 2024, with Governor Abiodun personally presenting him with the appointment letter on Wednesday.
Governor Abiodun congratulated Taiwo on his new role, describing the appointment as “well-deserved” and commending his dedication and exemplary service to the state.
Taiwo is an alumnus of Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, where he earned a B.Sc. in Statistics, and has furthered his academic journey with a Ph.D. His extensive experience in governance, coupled with his strategic roles within the administration, positions him as a key figure in the governor’s team.
In other political developments, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has approved the appointment of 160 individuals to various positions as Supervisory Councilors and Special Assistants across all 33 Local Government Areas in the state.
The state’s Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Ademola Ojo, made the announcement in Ibadan, the state capital. The appointments include 93 Supervisory Councilors and 67 Special Assistants, with special provisions for Persons Living with Disabilities.
Ojo highlighted that this initiative is in line with the governor’s ongoing efforts to ensure inclusivity in governance, ensuring that all segments of society are adequately represented in the decision-making processes of the current administration.
