Why Many Women Are Unmarried In Their 30s – Kanayo O. Kanayo

Veteran Nollywood actor Kanayo O. Kanayo has shared his perspective on why many women remain unmarried in their 30s.

In a recent interview with News Central, Kanayo explained that the choices women make in their younger years often lead to their singleness later in life.

According to Kanayo, many women who are unmarried in their 30s spent their 20s in relationships with older, often married men, while turning down the advances of younger, potential husbands. He elaborated, saying, “Some women, when they’re in their late teens or early 20s, start dating much older men, sometimes very wealthy and even married. Because the man is rich and may have given her gifts like a car or a house, she begins to feel like she’s living at a very high level.”

Kanayo continued, “As a result, she rejects the interest of younger men, thinking she’s in a better position. She might go from one rich man to another, staying in relationships until she’s in her mid-20s. By 25 or 26, she remains unmarried because she has turned down potential suitors who are closer to her age. As she gets older—into 29, 30—she begins to realize that men are no longer as interested, especially after leaving university.”

He further explained the consequences, noting, “By the time she reaches 31, the husband she once hoped for hasn’t come. At 23, she was enjoying life; by 28, she becomes a ‘prayer point.’ After 33, it’s like a state of emergency. By then, the reality sets in—at 35, she might still be single and, despite thinking she’s having fun, she is now desperately praying for a partner.”
