Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has called on opposition parties to join his administration’s efforts in transforming the state and fostering growth.
Speaking after the commissioning of several key projects by President Bola Tinubu on Saturday, Mbah expressed his belief that the President’s visit served as recognition of his administration’s ongoing work and commitment to development.
Gists9ja reports that Governor Mbah emphasized that the various projects inaugurated during President Tinubu’s visit were a reflection of his vision to transform Enugu State’s economy. He outlined plans to increase the state’s GDP from $4.4 billion to $30 billion over the next eight years, highlighting the importance of cooperation and unity in achieving this ambitious goal.
Among the notable projects commissioned were:
- 30 Completed Enugu Smart Green Schools out of 260 currently under construction, aimed at improving educational infrastructure across the state.
- 60 Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centres, strategically located across 260 wards to provide better healthcare access to residents.
- Enugu International Conference Centre, designed to position the state as a global hub for conferences and engagements.
- 90 Newly Completed Urban Roads, which are expected to ease mobility and reduce congestion in major cities.
- A State-of-the-Art Command and Control Centre, equipped with 150 AI-embedded patrol vehicles for enhanced security across the state.
Mbah further stressed that security was central to the state’s development agenda. He pointed out the significance of the AI-driven surveillance network and the newly established Distress Response Squad, which he said had redefined safety in Enugu. These initiatives, according to the Governor, are critical to ensuring that both residents and investors feel secure in the state.
“The President’s acknowledgment of our efforts underscores the essence of our mission. From investing in education, healthcare, and infrastructure to enhancing security, we are laying a solid foundation for a prosperous Enugu State,” Governor Mbah said.
The Governor also reassured Enugu residents of his administration’s continued commitment to good governance and progress. He stated:
“I want to assure my dear Ndi Enugu that this is just the beginning. As a government, we shall continue to build the Enugu of our dreams—one that serves as a hub for opportunity, service delivery, and economic excellence.”
Mbah echoed President Tinubu’s call for unity, urging all political parties to put past electoral differences aside and work together for the betterment of the state and the nation. He emphasized the importance of collective efforts in building an Enugu that can serve as a model for Nigeria’s growth and development.
“I wholeheartedly echo the President’s call that the elections are behind us, and now is the time to unite and drive our nation forward. Regardless of political affiliations, we can build an Enugu State and a Nigeria that serves and uplifts everyone,” Mbah concluded.
