Iyabo Ojo Regrets Advocacy for Mohbad’s Exhumation Amid Ongoing Family Disputes

Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has expressed regret over the circumstances surrounding the death of late Nigerian singer Mohbad, following the exhumation of his body.

Gists9ja reports that Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, under controversial circumstances, and was buried the following day. The Lagos State Police exhumed his remains on September 21, 2023, to conduct an autopsy aimed at uncovering the cause of his death.

However, the situation became more complex after Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, insisted that the singer’s son, Liam, undergo a DNA test before the reburial could proceed.

Speaking during an interview with Biola Adebayo on the Talk to B YouTube podcast, Iyabo Ojo revealed her disappointment over the unresolved burial delays and the escalating family disputes.

She said, “I wouldn’t have requested that Mohbad be exhumed if I knew his case would turn out this way. He hasn’t been buried till now. His dad says he wants a DNA test done, and I heard the court has granted his request. But I heard his dad has conditions again.”

Iyabo explained that her intention in advocating for the exhumation was to uncover the truth about the singer’s death.

“I just wanted Mohbad’s body exhumed so they could do the autopsy to find out the cause of his death. I did my best to ensure that everyone was investigated, but now different theories have emerged, and DNA has become more important to them,” she said.
