The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of two Catholic reverend sisters by armed assailants along Ufuma Road in Orumba North Local Government Area.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, revealed that the incident occurred on the evening of January 7, 2025, as the nuns were returning from a vocational service meeting in Ogboji.
Ikenga assured the public that a joint operation is underway to secure their safe rescue. He added, “Commissioner of Police CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, alongside the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, visited the scene for an on-the-spot assessment. The command is working with vital clues to apprehend the suspects and ensure the victims’ safe recovery.”
The abduction has sparked concern among residents and heightened calls for improved security measures in the region.
