Army Base Attack: Take War To Bandits’ Camps – President Tinubu Orders

President Bola Tinubu has expressed his condolences to the Nigerian Army following the loss of soldiers during an attack on its base in Damboa, Borno State.

Gists9ja reports that the incident, which occurred on Saturday, involved an assault by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists on a Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Sabon Gida, Damboa, resulting in the deaths of six soldiers.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu extended his sympathies to the families of the fallen soldiers, honoring their sacrifice and dedication to defending the nation. He assured that their contributions would forever be remembered.

The President called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack to uncover any lapses and draw valuable lessons to prevent future incidents.

Commending the Armed Forces for their swift and decisive response, Tinubu highlighted the success of retaliatory airstrikes that neutralized a significant number of terrorists and destroyed their assets as they attempted to flee.

“This resolute action by the Army showcases the capability and readiness of our military to confront and defeat threats to our nation’s security. It is a testament to our determination to eradicate terrorism and banditry, creating a future of peace and stability for all Nigerians,” he said.

President Tinubu also thanked the military and security forces for their sacrifices and dedication, stating, “Your efforts do not go unnoticed. On behalf of a grateful nation, I extend heartfelt gratitude and sympathy. We stand firmly behind you in this ongoing fight to eliminate these threats.”

He urged the military to take proactive measures by targeting the strongholds of bandits and terrorists, particularly in the Northwest, where criminals continue to endanger the lives and livelihoods of innocent villagers.

Additionally, the President appealed to Nigerians and the media to support the Armed Forces in their mission to restore peace and security across the country.
