Bobrisky Sends Strong Message To Burna Boy Following Speed Darlington's Continued Detention

Controversial Nigerian crossdresser, Okuneye Idris, popularly known as Bobrisky, has publicly appealed to Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy to forgive fellow entertainer Darlington Okoye, widely known as Speed Darlington.

Gists9ja reports that Speed Darlington was arrested in October 2024 on charges of defamation and cyberstalking involving Burna Boy. Initially detained in Lagos, he was later transferred to the Guzape district of Abuja under the custody of the IGP’s Intelligence Response Team. Despite being released from police detention, he was re-arrested in November during a performance in Owerri, Imo State, shortly after his return to Nigeria.

In a heartfelt message shared on his Instagram story, Bobrisky urged Burna Boy to intervene and facilitate Speed Darlington’s release from prison. He expressed concern for the entertainer’s well-being, suggesting that a 45-day prison sentence was sufficient punishment.

Bobrisky wrote, “Please, Burna Boy, forgive Speed. Prison is not a nice place. I don’t think he has the money for the VIP section because it’s expensive. I pray, Burna, please release him. Forty-five days in prison is enough punishment.”

While acknowledging that none of those he is advocating for had supported him during his own struggles, Bobrisky explained that his compassionate nature drove him to speak out.

“None of these people I’m using my platform to stand for did the same for me when it was my time. But you know what? Our hearts are different. I can’t stand seeing human beings hurt,” he shared.

Bobrisky also addressed fans, urging them to provide honest feedback to their favorite celebrities, particularly when they engage in questionable behavior.

He added, “Fans, learn how to tell your favourites the truth when they are crossing the line. You all were applauding Speed when he was saying unpleasant things. Now, none of you is in prison with him.”

Speed Darlington’s legal troubles stem from allegations of defamation and cyberstalking tied to Burna Boy, a case that has garnered widespread attention. While details of the accusations remain unclear, the matter highlights the increasing scrutiny faced by public figures over their online interactions.

Bobrisky’s appeal adds a human dimension to the controversy, underscoring the challenges faced by individuals in the entertainment industry and calling for empathy and forgiveness in resolving conflicts.
