A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, Professor Anthony Agbazuere, has expressed strong confidence that President Bola Tinubu will secure widespread support in the South-East during the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting of APC members from the old Aba political bloc in Ikem Nvosi, Isialangwa Local Government Area, Prof. Agbazuere urged other potential presidential aspirants to step aside and allow Tinubu to fully implement his policies for the nation.
According to him, President Tinubu’s policies have brought stability to Nigeria’s economy and restored hope among citizens. He praised the removal of fuel subsidy, saying it freed up vital resources now being channelled through state and local governments for development.
Agbazuere also described the South-East Development Commission as a landmark initiative, stressing that it underscores Tinubu’s commitment to rebuilding the region and winning the trust of its people.
He further applauded Tinubu’s push for local government autonomy, recalling the Supreme Court ruling in favour of direct allocation of funds to local councils. However, he criticised state governors for allegedly resisting the full implementation of the policy.
On education, the APC chieftain commended Tinubu for introducing the student loan scheme, which he said would ensure children from poor backgrounds can complete their university education without financial barriers. He also lauded the president’s tax reforms, noting that they exempt low-income earners from taxation while ensuring the wealthy contribute more.
Prof. Agbazuere described Tinubu as “visionary and focused,” urging Nigerians to support his administration to complete its programs. He insisted that those with presidential ambitions should wait until after Tinubu’s constitutionally allowed eight years in office.
